چکیده

Testing the difference between two data samples is of a particular interest in statistics. being unknown continuous cumulative distribution functions, we wish to test the null hypothesis : :. In this talk, we propose an effective and convenient Bayesian nonparametric approach to assess the equality of two unknown distributions. The method is based on the Kolmogorov distance and approximate samples from the Dirichlet process centered at the standard normal distribution and a concentration parameter 1. Our results show that the proposed test is robust with respect to any prior specification of the Dirichlet process. We provide simulated examples to illustrate the workings of the method. Overall, the proposed method performs perfectly in many cases.

Bayesian Nonparametric Goodness of Fit Tests

We survey in some detail the rather small literature on Bayes nonparametric Testing. We mostly concentrate on Bayesian testing of goodness of fit to a parametric null with nonparametric alternatives. We also survey briefly some related unpublished material. We discuss both methodology and posterior consistency.

Bayesian assessment of goodness-of- fit against nonparametric alternatives

The classical chi-square test of goodness-of-fit compares the hypothesis that data arise from some parametric family of distributions, against the nonparametric alternative that they arise from some other distribution. However, the chi-square test requires continuous data to be grouped into arbitrary categories. Furthermore, as the test is based upon an approximation, it can only be used if the...

Nonparametric Goodness-of-fit

This paper develops an approach to testing the adequacy of both classical and Bayesian models given sample data. An important feature of the approach is that we are able to test the practical scientiic hypothesis of whether the true underlying model is close to some hypothesized model. The notion of closeness is based on measurement precision and requires the introduction of a metric for which ...

Bayesian Goodness-of-Fit Testing with Mixtures of Triangular Distributions

We consider the consistency of the Bayes factor in goodness of fit testing for a parametric family of densities against a nonparametric alternative. Sufficient conditions for consistency of the Bayes factor are determined and demonstrated with priors using certain mixtures of triangular densities. A New Goodness-of-Fit Test for a Distribution by the Empirical Characteristic Function

Extended Abstract. Suppose n i.i.d. observations, X1, …, Xn, are available from the unknown distribution F(.), goodness-of-fit tests refer to tests such as H0 : F(x) = F0(x) against H1 : F(x) $neq$ F0(x). Some nonparametric tests such as the Kolmogorov--Smirnov test, the Cramer-Von Mises test, the Anderson-Darling test and the Watson test have been suggested by comparing empirical ...
